Why remove EXIF data
A photo taken with a phone often records, without you seeing it, the exact place where it was taken, the camera model and the date. Shared as is on a classifieds site, a forum or by email, it can reveal your home address or your habits to strangers. Remove EXIF data before sharing to remove GPS location from photo files in one go.
The tool first shows you what it found, with a warning if a GPS location is present. It then saves each image again without its metadata, displayed the right way up. This re-save is done at very high quality and the difference is invisible, but the file is not an exact copy of the original.
Frequently asked questions
Are my photos safe?
They are analyzed and cleaned right in your browser. Nothing is sent to our servers, your photos never leave your device.
What is EXIF data?
Information hidden in the file: GPS location, camera make and model, date and time taken, software used.
Will my picture lose quality with this EXIF remover?
It is saved again at very high quality: you can't see the difference. It is not, however, a bit-for-bit copy of the original file.
Will my photo stay the right way up?
Yes. The orientation recorded by the camera is applied to the image before the data is removed.
Is there a limit?
You can clean up to 20 photos at a time, 50 MB max each.
