How to compress a PDF to 500KB

  1. 1 Add your PDF Choose a file or drag it into the box. The 500 KB target is already selected.
  2. 2 Let the tool compress Gentle settings are tried first, then stronger ones, until the file goes under 500 KB.
  3. 3 Download Check the new size and the look of the pages, then send or upload your PDF.

Why aim for 500 KB

Being able to compress PDF to 500KB is useful for applications that need several pages in one file: a full CV with certificates, a rental or visa file, a project report, a portfolio. Some upload forms and support systems cap attachments at this size, and a lighter file is also easier to send by email or messaging app.

At 500 KB, most text documents and scans of ten pages or so stay comfortable to read. Documents built around large photos, such as brochures or presentations, may need more room. If the target cannot be reached, the tool gives you its lightest result and its size: you can then split the PDF into parts, remove image-heavy pages or convert it to grayscale before compressing again.

Frequently asked questions

How do I compress a PDF to 500KB without losing quality?

The tool keeps the first setting that goes under 500 KB, starting with the lightest one, so the quality loss stays as small as possible. Text is never blurred, only the images are recompressed.

Why is my PDF still over 500KB?

Large color photos on many pages can make 500 KB out of reach without making them unreadable. The tool then shows the smallest size it could get. Splitting the document or removing some pictures usually solves it.

Can I compress several PDFs to 500KB at once?

Yes. Add several files: each one is compressed toward the 500 KB target and you get them back together in a ZIP archive.

What happens to my files?

They are processed on our server during the request and deleted as soon as the result is sent back to you. Nothing is kept.

Is it free?

Yes. No account, no email address, no watermark on your PDF.
